The other day I had a weird dream... (El otro día tuve un sueño extraño...)
My sister, Patricia, and I were little girls and were back in the place where we had been born. (Mi hermana, Patricia, y yo eramos niñas pequeñas y habíamos vuelto al lugar donde habíamos nacido)
We were standing in the middle of nowhere, all alone, but there was a sign next to us telling the distance (1.2 km) to the highest mountain in the country, whose top I could see perfectly align with the top of Patricia's head, right behind her. (Estabamos de pie en mitad de ningún sitio, solas, pero había una señal a nuestro lado que decía la distancia (1,2 km) a la montaña más alta del país, cuyo pico podía ver perfectamente alineado con la coronilla de Patricia, justo detrás de ella)
In the dream, Pa was wearing her school uniform. Therefore, she much have been a bit older than four, and I must have been barely three. But, somehow, she looked much taller than me; actually, nearly a foot taller (big sisters do tend to look rather imposing when you are a little kid, don't they?). (En el sueño, Pa llevaba su uniforme del colegio. Por tanto, debía de tener algo más de cuatro años, y yo debía de tener apenas tres. Pero, de alguna manera, parecía mucho más alta que yo; de hecho, casi un pie más alta (las hermanas mayores tienden a imponer cuando eres pequeñita, ¿verdad?))
Anyway, just when I was expecting something to happen, the alarm clock went off, and I woke up. And then I realized that if I told you that in the dream we were standing 28" apart, doing a little bit of math you would be able to find out where we were. So, there you have it... (En todo caso, justo cuando estaba esperando que algo pasase, sonó el despertador y me desperté. Y me di cuenta de que si os decía que en el sueño nos separaban a las dos 28 pulgadas, con un poco de mates podríais averiguar dónde estábamos. Así que ahí lo tenéis...)
